Faith and Hope - Pastor Maponyane

The Certainty of God’s Promise
Hebrews 6:13-20 “When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying ‘I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.’”

Hope
For everything to stay in shape, it needs to be sustained. For instance a brand new car; the car will be well taken care of and serviced.

Where we have read, God makes a promise to Abraham. Abraham’s hopes were based upon this promise. What is hope? Hope is a feeling of expectation – things that you long for – God teaches us of hope and expectations; the desire for something to happen believing and having faith in it. Whatever it is that one might hope for, it will surely come to pass sometime - it could probably take a week or years – even so the believer should keep faith.

When a woman is pregnant, we say that she is expecting. A woman of faith knows that the outcome will be great. Two weeks of pregnancy does not pass and already she is in despair. So now God reminds us that we should always be expecting.

Verse 13 further on explains that we should be bold and remain courageous while we expect from the Lord. We should remain courageous because fear is an enemy of faith, so is doubt. Hope does not go alone, it is led by faith. For hope to be sustainable it needs faith. Especially after praying, we always should apply faith. If one did not have hope then our faith could be easily shaken.

Faith
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

Abraham kept hoping that something will happen. This means that he had faith and believed in God’s promises.

Many of us pray for things to happen, we start by having great hope for these prayers to come to pass. However, as time goes we fail to recognize accomplished-prayers and we conclude that our hopes are forlorn. We forget about what we used to pray for because we have given-up. In some cases, some people say that miracles were last seen in the times of Moses.

If Moses and Joshua did not have hope to see Canaan, Israelites would not have experienced some of the great miracles of God.

Since we have so much hope in God, He always delivers and never disappoints. My question is: can He have hope in us? Can we deliver? Can we not disappoint?

Those who hope upon the Lord will remain free, courageous and glorious!!!

Tired People

By Pastor Johannes Nare

Brief Message on People who get tired

Galatians 6:9

I want to talk about people who get tired along the way; I want to talk about people who are feeling the weight of life in their souls; I want to talk about people who are feeling the weight of their families upon their lives. I want to talk about people who are tired of their own families. I want to talk to people who are tired of their own children.

“Let us not become wearyin doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Some people just make a phone call to cause conflicts amongst other people lives. Just a phone call, people start fighting! Such people are tired. You will endup going to every church. You know what at the end of the day; you will sit down and count all the churches you went to. You will start saying, I can’t go there because they did that to me; I can’t go there because of that and that. At the end of the day, they will be no church left for you. You will then relax and attend no church. The devil will have a way to you!

How many people you know; people who were working for the Lord; but there are nolonger attending church? If you may ask them what happened; they will say, all Christian churches are bad. Not that the churches are bad, but he is the one who was causing troubles in people’s lives. Now people are aware that he is a bad person; once he moves to another church, the Christians on the other side send a warning sign saying, “Pastor, he is coming! Pastor be ready for touble. If he can just say something everything will be messed up.” Those are the results of tired being tired.

Some people realise that they are tired, and instead of solving their issues they decide to move from one church to another. This thing is a pain in my heart; to see many churches in one street; so and so name; and so and so name. When you look at their history, you find that they started the churches with hatred. They started the churches with pain in their hearts. They started their churches from fighting somewhere. Some started their churches because of money.

When you get tired, don’t make decisions that will put you in danger. Let’s look at Joseph. Joseph was tormented by his own brothers. They even put him in the pit. The worse of them all, they sold him. This man, inspite of all these things, did not neglect his family. He never got tired because he knew the purpose of him being sold. He knew that, one day he will open doors for others.

Some people when they get angry they move out. That is very dangerous!

There are people who expect to reap what they did not work for. Some people question God about their situations. Somethings need no prayer; it needs you to take a stand. You must go out to the field and plant. You can’t expect tomatoes in your garden if you only planted onions. That is impossible! Some of us plant bad things, and we expect good things in return.

Some young people live a reckless life (dustbin life), but they want to be good people; they want to have good families after 10 years. That is not possible! If you want to be a good father after 15 years, be a good young person. The life you live as a young person today will follow you even when you get married. Your children will live the way you lived. You will start questioning God about your life forgetting the kind of life you led in the past. You will reap what you planted; if not you, your children will. “I will punish the children according to what their parents did!”  We always pray that, whatever we did in the past must not affect our children.

11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons.

12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there he squandered his wealth in wild living.

14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.

15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs.

16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anyting.

17 When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!

18 I will arise and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.

19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.

20 So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

22 “But his father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.

23 “‘Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.

24 “‘For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So the began to celebrate.”
